Where has October gone?! I can't believe we're more than halfway through the month and Starbucks holiday drinks will be taunting us in the next few weeks. Recently I became fixated on searching for a red dress. Something classic that could be worn multiple times especially with the cooler Kansas days ahead of us. I began an endless search for a red dress, but I couldn't help but wonder why I was so fixated on red.
Personally I feel like my power color is black, but where does that leave red? When it comes to painting my nails, applying eyeshadow, or putting on lipstick red is always my color of choice. It always makes me feel uplifted and motivated. Subconsciously I feel like being an Aries has always drawn me to red.
I've recently become obsessed with Jackie O's iconic style, especially her simple looks on her days off from being First Lady. She would wear plain shirtdresses and capris in solid shades. This dress is a mix of me taking a cue from Jackie's style book and my interest in red.
I still find that I'm constantly editing my closet and getting rid of pieces that don't bring me joy. I recently sold a Free People dress and put my earnings towards my new red dress fund. I actually found this dress on sale from Anthropologie for $14.96 in my size. It was exactly what I was looking for. This dress is perfect for the warmer October days and can transition to winter with layers like a turtleneck , tights, and a leopard coat. I'd love to find a quirky Kate Spade purse to go with this dress!
What do you think of my eye look? I'm never getting over the ABH Modern Renaissance palette, and using a color switch with it is such a game changer.
This H&M trench coat is one of my most favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I bought it in 11th grade, and started wearing it on repeat during my freshman year of college. It has really held up over the years. Maybe when it starts to fall apart I'll invest in a more luxurious trench.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their October. I can't believe its almost over. The weather has been so warm but its finally cooled down. I've been busy with grad school, getting a head start on my Christmas shopping, and I'm almost done with my 22 book reading challenge!
How do you wear red? Let me know in the comments below!

When I was visiting D.C. back in August I stopped by a Saks Off Fifth. I'm pretty sure I let out a gasp when I saw this Marchesa Notte embroidered short sleeve cocktail dress on the rack...in my size...75% off. I was dead. My love for Marchesa is endless. All of their designs speak to me without words transcending their sheer beauty and elegance. If I could go back to all the important moments in my now twenty something life that needed a dress I would've worn this one, but I have it now and that's what's important.
