When Alana Mitchell reached out to me to try some of her individualized skincare products I was psyched. My skin goes through stages of rebellion and maturity constantly. I always am trying new products for my normal skin but I specifically told Alana that I was looking for help on my hormonal acne, acne scars, and brighter skin.
Let's dive in!
Let's dive in!
To help combat my issues Alana's team sent me two products to try out-
4-in-1 Cleansing Pod ($11.90) - This pod is a gentle exfoliator infused with a clay based cleanser. These pods can also be used as a mask!
Night R1 Retinol Facial Oil ($49.00) - This retinol oil will help reduce acne, scarring, and the jojoba should work similarly balancing out the skin. This facial oil contains retinol and coenzyme Q10 to reduce lines/signs of aging.
The only cleansing ish pod I've tried is the Boscia mini konjac cleansing sponge with bamboo charcoal (reviewed back in my October '15 Sephora Play box). I wasn't left with any lasting impressions so I was pretty excited to try this sponge. This cleansing pod is about the size of a bouncy ball. You dampen it thus activating the foaming cleanser and apply in circular motions. This sponge is not good for removing makeup at all so I would not suggest using this with a full face. It can be used 2-5 times but let's see how long I can get. I've used this about 3 times so far and its given me a great amount of foaming cleanser every time. I prefer to use this cleanser after a day without makeup when my skin just feels oily from the outdoors. I think this pod would be best for when I'm traveling. Carrying a face wash through TSA security check is such a pain and I own so little travel size face washes. This sponge + make up wipes + another cleanser will be the perfect trio.
I feel ambivalent about this oil. I've used it on nights where my skin was reenacting Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and it didn't help. However, I just used it recently in a spot that kept breaking out and it helped significantly. It also helped fade some acne scars which is quite nice. I think I just need to use this serum in really small quantities. However, I am noticing a slight difference.
Overall these products were a nice pick me up. The retinol facial oil has been helping with my pesky break outs. I'm also super excited to take a cleansing pod with me next time I travel domestically.
Hope everyone had a safe and fun Thanksgiving weekend. Honestly I am wishing this weekend won't end but I am ready for the holiday season.
I received these products complimentary from Alana Mitchell for testing purposes. All opinions are always my own.
