Nowhere to be but home

March 22, 2020

These past couple weeks have been tumultuous, to say at the least. I hope wherever you are friends that you are staying well during this crazy time. I wanted to share a few things that are keeping me sane during this chaos.

1. Stylebook's Work From Home Outfit Challenge This challenge is about creating a sense of normalcy right now and making getting dressed for working at home fun. As someone who's working from home indefinitely this challenge is super exciting. Check out the hashtag #WFHOutfitChallenge to see all the cute and creative outfits being shared. It'll inspire you to step up your WFH style.

2. YogaSix's Free Live 30 minute Go Classes. I don't have any excuses to not practice yoga at home anymore! Here's a link to more free online fitness classes.

3. Spring Baking Championship, The West Wing, and Real Housewives of New York City.

4. My skincare routine. My nighttime routine is another thing that's really keeping me sane right now. Right now I'm enjoying Clinique's Fresh Pressed Pure Vitamin C 7 Day System specifically the serum and Ren's Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic. I'm also enjoying watching the Editor and Chief of Allure, Michelle Lee's Instagram. She shares very therapeutic beauty/skin care content.

5. Tidying! Recently, I color coordinated my bookshelf and got rid of books that didn't spark joy. I've organized under my sink and even made a list of every beauty product that I have in my stockpile. I've also ordered a ThredUp bag to get rid of a few pieces in my closet that aren't bringing me joy and taking up extra space. Before I donate these clothes I'm going to wash everything before sending the bag in. This is a great time to face your fears, clean out your closet, read Marie Kondo's books, and digitize your closet!

6. Taking long walks and listening to podcasts. I'm enjoying the Duolingo French podcast right now.

Its difficult to not feel overwhelmed by everything that's going on right now. As someone who struggles with anxiety these past few weeks have been challenging. Nevertheless, I'm trying to stay grateful, busy, and make the best out of being at home for the next month. It has surprised me how much the little things in life have made me happy these past few weeks. Different colored hyacinths, puppies that run up to me, people flying kites, swans swimming, boys playing cricket, tulips blooming, kindness from strangers, etc. I never thought these little things would mean so much to me right now.

I know a lot of us have been shopping during these trying times, consider shopping locally by purchasing goods. Also, here's a great article on  how you can help during the coronavirus outbreak.

  5. I want to get back into yoga so it's a great time to start. I'm still working but my hours have been cut back dramatically so there isn't an excuse for me not to!

  7. Yes, it is definitely a worrying experience for all of us, particularly the uncertainty about how it will affect our families, friends, jobs and economy.
Love your 'keeping busy' tasks. I've also stepped my beauty routine and fitness! xx

  9. It's nice you are making the most of your new free time! We are home with the kids and the schools are closed so it's not the most relaxing time, but we are getting a lot of time together as a family even if working from home (which hubby and I both do!) has become more of a struggle!

Hope that your weekend is going well :) We are all staying home and staying safe.

  10. I'm really enjoying these type of posts! Like everyone, I'm trying to make the best of the situation as possible. I've been doing lots of baking (cookies, brownies, flapjacks!) and like you, I've started doing some beginners Yoga which I've absoloutely loved!

  12. Having those "spa at home" nights where I solely take care of my skin - have been so calming and rewarding. I will definitely try those online Yoga classes. Now that we can't jog outside anymore, I am even more tempted to give them a shot. Hope you are doing well, Sonia! Hugs xx
