I feel like I've been talking about paring down my beauty routine forever, but besides buying less makeup/skincare and recycling all my empties I feel like I haven't made much strides towards a greener beauty routine. Then in early spring I got an email about Loop x Ulta Beauty.
Loop (Also known as Terracycle) teamed up for a conscious beauty initiative with Ulta Beauty. Basically Loop x Ulta Beauty is a selection of products that are in durable and zero-waste packaging. Of course this was a beauty initiative I was totally behind and had to try. The process is pretty simple. You shop from a selection of products, loop delivers in waste-free packaging, you return empty containers and then Loop cleans & refills.
It was hard to decide what to buy first because I wanted to buy something that I use often enough that it makes sense to switch to a more sustainable product. Also, Loop x Ulta Beauty doesn't have a huge product assortment. While there's bath and body, hair care, personal care, and skin care there's only a few items in each section.
Ultimately, I decided to try body wash! I use a fair amount yearly, and this will cut down some of the single-use plastic in my life. I ordered Puretto Fresh & Floral Shower Gel. It has a delightful scent. I am not usually one for floral fragrances but this one is different.
It was $12 + a $2.50 deposit. You also pay $5 for the shipping deposit. I had a coupon for free delivery so I only spent $17 (But really only $12 if you don't include deposits) which is still cheaper than a bottle of shower gel from Bath & Body works. I believe you can cash out to receive the deposit or apply to your next order. Overall the process was pretty straight forward. Overall, I will definitely keep purchasing from Loop x Ulta! I would love to see more skincare products (face wash, serums, and eye creams) in the future.
Would you consider a refillable beauty product with a bottle deposit?
I love Loop!!

It's a great idea and I hope you enjoy using the product! It's nice that companies are trying to be more environmentally friendly with things like this! There are a few companies here that do similar programs where you get refills and stuff instead of more plastic, but with a skin condition I really have to be careful sadly and just stick to the products I know work.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely week :)

This is such a great initiative to support and make sense when you use a product often enough. I've never heard of Loop, I'll have to check them out. Thanks for sharing, lovely!
