This summer has been so different than the last. In mid-May the CDC lifted the mask mandate for fully vaccinated people. Life seemed to be opening up again. I was consistently going into the office and painting the town red with friends. I started to think about life a little further out and started embracing my style and body again.
Whereas, last summer was rough. I spent most of my time either inside or walking/swimming endlessly. Stressing. Working a job I didn't love. Most of the time I was in a t-shirt and shorts or on the odd instance I got dressed up to meet a friend in my bubble.
While life has changed once again I thought I'd do a post on what I've worn this summer. I've been able to wear more clothes out of my closet. Part of me wants to skip over mentioning this but this would've been so huge to me a few months ago and truthfully it still is important to me. I have felt more like myself this summer since I've been able to express myself through my personal style again. Plus I have developed a healthier relationship with my body image over these past four months.
Looking back this summer I got great use out of my black Cambridge Satchel, a pair of PacSun shorts I've had since 10th grade (and I refuse to part with), and my birkenstocks.
I wore this outfit to Canary to celebrate my friend Steph's birthday with some of the people I love most in the world. I love this dress so much and was able to bring out the first child. I always forget how much I love that bag. These shoes are so fabulous but pinch my feet! After that night I decided I need to let them go.
I wore this out to dinner with an old friend at Café Gratitude and had such a delightful dinner. Their I am Humble is one of my favorite meals. I don't bring this purse out nearly enough, but got a good laugh as my friend pretended to run away with it.
I will never stop loving this dress. It just gives and gives. An outfit I wore out for First Friday's in July. Such a beautiful night that ended with live jazz.
You may remember
this outfit! I felt so cute in it. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy because I remember walking down the streets of Crossroads with my friends Melissa and Ray.
My Fourth of July outfit. I've never worn this pair of espadrilles with this dress but I love the pop of color. On the record: this was one of the best Fourth of July's I've ever had.
The
green dress. One of my favorite shoots honestly. This dress is an underdog. I rarely take it out because it rings formal to me, but its really not! I wore it out for a dinner at Loews KC for a friend's birthday where we both felt beautiful.
Well friends, life has been moving so fast these days and I'm trying to figure out how to fit the blog into it! I am feeling up to shooting, styling, and writing style posts again so that is a huge win to share. Posts like these inspire me to get blogging again and remind me that the core of JMC is really just a space that reflects me and my silly passions like using the
Stylebook app. I've been loving:
Ricky Martin's Vogue Beauty Secrets video, finding deals on Facebook Marketplace, cooking with my friend on Sundays, and Inhaler's debut album,
It Won't Always Be Like This. Get vaccinated. Mask up. Protect others and your loved ones. Stay well, beautiful people.
It's great you are able to do more things this summer! It's such a shame things were so bad last year and you felt a little lost. I know we are so lucky here in Queensland to have had so few cases and barely any time in lockdown after the big 6 week one in 2020.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend :) We had so much fun at the Lego exhibition at the museum yesterday.
Away From The Blue
This summer felt so nice compared to last summer for mask wearing, but I honestly think I did more last summer. I love how you made this calendar. So many cute outfits. Love the dress for outfit 938.
