Revival

October 14, 2021

Wow, what a difference stepping away and taking time to take care of yourself makes, friends. This past year I was forced to reckon with myself and some of the demons I was facing. Add chronic stress + mental health struggles in addition to dealing with body image issues + add a fashion blog into the mix and something's gotta give. So, besides a few shoots/posts in the spring (which I truthfully shouldn't have done) I decided that the blog needed to be put on the back burner to protect my mental health. Yet leaving it untouched tugged on my heart strings.
JMC has always been a place for me to express/find myself at all sorts of times in my life. Realizing that the blog wasn't going to be a healthy outlet for me as I working through things hurt. I felt so disconnected from JMC and this part of myself, but I knew the blog would be there for me when was ready. I'm so elated to say that I finally feel ready again.

I've put so much work into taking care of my mental and physical health these past six months. The payoff is truly being able to look in the mirror and see myself again. Its something I feared wouldn't ever happen again, but it did. There was so much work that went into this that I don't want to downplay. I sought the most medical help I probably ever have in my entire life, exercised consistently, nourished myself properly, surrounded myself with those who met me where I was with love, understanding, encouragement and support, and took the time to truly take care of myself.

To my friends and family who saw the beauty in me when I couldn't see it, I love you so much.

The seasons are changing here in Kansas City. I am the star of my own movie! Which has meant outfitting myself in these Reformation overalls that I actually bought a couple months back for $50. Not an Oceans level heist, but a score considering these were $178 + I had looked for a solid 2 years without finding my size and nothing was below $90. PATIENCE persists, y'all. Betty wore this jumpsuit on an episode of Riverdale and I just thought they looked so cool.

I have got such great wear out of these overalls. CPW is already $10!

Big s/o to Linda for giving me this vintage Oscar de La Renta scarf. I love this scarf so much =')

What I love about this jumpsuit/overalls is that its possibilities are endless. You can wear it on its own. Layer a t-shirt. Tie a scarf around the belt loops. Wear leather Converse + a vintage bag. Rock some pigtails. The stylings are endless.

October is here and there is a full moon in Aries on 10/20. I am headed to NYC this weekend and I am so excited. I always seem to find myself and the perspective I am in need of in NYC. I'm looking forward to seeing Halloween Kills and one of my favorite bands Dayglow at the end of the month

I can't believe there are only two more months left of 2021. It has been horrible and full of challenges, but also beautiful and surprising and full of laughter and I've seen more colors this year than I have in my entire life and I'm grateful for that. Keep going.
