And Just Like That

June 22, 2024

Greetings? I don't even know how to start this blog post. It's been so long. I know it really hasn't been, but it feels like it's been awhile since I've had actually the space to blog.

Not too long ago I had this realization that I haven't been giving myself any time to blog or create. It was a weird moment where I thought, "Huh, I haven't posted on the blog in awhile," but then it was quickly followed by, "Well, I don't really have time to." My weekends have become so full. Spending time with loved ones, volunteering...and cramming in a few hours (or 4?) here and there for freelance work. Priorities are hard, but I think I've come to the realization that I want to spend less of my time off working, and reclaim that time and space to blog.
I finally got out with my old friend from grad school, Anubhav to shoot some pictures. I've known Anubhav for so long and it was fun to finally be behind the camera again wearing clothes that bring me so much joy!
I've wanted this dress FOREVER, and when I say forever I mean 4 years. I saw J. Crew post it on their Instagram in July 2020, and then literally never saw it again (except on resale sites). It's completely silk and originally retailed for $498 much to my chagrin. It took so long to find this piece in my size, but finally I got it 74% off on Poshmark. My tailor had to make a couple alterations, but once that was done I have had a hard time not wearing this dress. I've got the cost per wear (CPW) down to $26!
I'm not usually a maxi dress person but this dress is different. I've worn it to an art museum, a work event, dinner + dancing, a birthday celebration, and to a backyard goodbye party! I plan to keep wearing this dress all summer and into early fall, so, if you see me wearing this dress all summer, well you know why!
I love this dress so much is because it holds its own and is even more fabulous paired with accessories and shoes. I threw on a pair of old SJP Collection heels, my mini Jodie bag, and a pair of teardrop chandelier earrings teardrop chandelier earrings my aunt got me for Christmas.
And just like that life comes in and things begin to change. Last weekend I started a new phase of my life, moving into a new apartment. I've lived in my previous apartment for over 3 years now, but it's felt like home for so much longer. I've gone through so much there. Heartbreak, loss, and then the wonderful things like finding myself, strengthening friendships and falling in love again. It has been a privilege to live where I have for so long and by myself, and I'm ready for this new chapter of my life.
So, my friends, I bid you farewell for now, and a Happy Solstice. I think we need light everywhere right now more than ever.

Wearing: Dress - J. Crew Collection (sold out, but I really like this style), shoes - SJP Collection (old, but I've linked something similar below), bag - Bottega Veneta (Sold out, but I really like this one), earrings - a gift from my aunt (similar)
